As the aging process begins, connective tissue thins and collagen fibres break down. These changes in the support structures appear as sagging, deep creases, folds and wrinkles that can occur in your thirties.
The aim is to tighten the subcutaneous tissues as well as the overlying skin. The procedure lifts the desired parts of the face or upper neck with minimal scarring. There is little downtime, discomfort and risk of complications as it is carried out under local anaesthetic. The results may not be as dramatic as a surgical procedure, but it gives a good result in selected patients. Ideally this surgery is best suited to those patients who do not have an excess of saggy skin.
A silhouette thread lift needle (with thread attached) is inserted under the skin to place the thread where required. The threads are designed to have barbs which attach to the tissues and hold them in position. Contour threads are permanent and they can be complemented by further threads or even a facelift in the future.
The results of the procedure are visible two weeks afterwards but improvements will continue to be seen over the following three to six months due to the collagen production stimulated by the threads.
Depending on your particular, needs the threads can be inserted in different areas to achieve a greater lift in more mature individuals or to achieve better facial contours in a younger individual, i.e. pronounced cheekbones. You will be advised of your suitability for the procedure at your free consultation with our plastic surgeon.
