How does a Chemical Peel work?
The choice of which peel we recommend depends upon your skin's condition and sensitivity in relation to the results that you desire.
The acids in these peels remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and stimulate new cell growth, making a visible difference to the look and feel of your skin. The lighter peels can achieve improvement without any significant recovery time and with minimal complications. Medium strength peels will cause some significant flaking of the skin but can achieve better results.
What happens during the treatment and how long will it take to recover?
The treatment is usually pain free, but you may feel a mild stinging or burning sensation during the peel application. Your first discussion with our practitioner should clearly set out your expectations and what the practitioner thinks will happen to your skin as a result of peel treatments. We recommend that your skin is primed for at least two weeks before undergoing treatment using carefully
selected products which could include SkinCeuticals Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) or SESHA. This at-home treatment helps to improve the condition of your skin and will alert us to any sensitivity prior to a peel procedure.
The actual procedure is straightforward - the skin is usually cleaned and the selected peel will be applied. Most clients find that they can return to work immediately after treatment.
