Our treatments are based on science, independent clinical data and results, not 'hype'. By using state-of-the-art, scientifically proven medical-grade products, we can achieve superior results.

Removal of spider veins and varicose veins

Typical signs of vein problems are visible bluish-reddish small vessels on ankles, popliteal spaces and thighs or prominent veins on the calves. Elos treatments are not only for the legs but also possible for the treatment of benign facial skin lesions, bluish-reddish small vessels on cheeks, nose, neck, décolleté etc. Vein problems are in most cases a genetic predisposition to weak connective tissue. With the state-of-the-art elos technology, many vascular problems like spider veins and varicose veins can be once and for all eliminated without a surgical operation.

How does laser technology work?

Laser is a pure form of light consisting of only one wavelength. Different wavelengths have different penetration and absorption properties on the skin. In general, the higher the wavelength, the deeper the laser's penetration. Different structures within the skin respond to different wavelengths of laser. As the structures within the skin absorb the laser energy, they heat up and are destroyed. Since each structure responds to a different wavelength, we can selectively heat and destroy certain structures within the skin without having much effect on the other skin structures.

What types of leg veins can be treated?

Varicose veins, which are usually a deeper blue, need different treatment from the discoloured clusters (known as 'spider veins') that are near the skin surface. For this reason, the VascuLight® laser system is equipped with two different laser technologies. Each will be used as necessary for the type of veins. This non-invasive technique can now replace the conventional surgical interventions offered in the past.

Are surface veins and spider veins treated the same way?

These smaller, superficial structures require a different technology for successful treatment, not technically a laser at all. Smaller surface veins are treated using light energy. The light energy is absorbed by the blood, changed to heat, and the vein is destroyed. You usually see immediate results with the disappearance of these veins.

How many treatments are needed?

Many leg veins need multiple treatments, often over a few months before the effect is complete. Even small vessels may require some time to resolve. Sometimes a bit of 'matting' or 'staining' surrounds the treated vessel. By using both technologies we can treat the vein and this minor temporary discolouration and offer a complete,
excellent outcome.

What is the treatment like? Is it painful?

A pulse of laser light may feel like a pinch similar to a snapping rubber band. Chilled gel or blowing cool air helps to make the procedure more comfortable. The entire procedure is brief and non-invasive - no needles are used at
any time.
