No special measures are necessary prior to your first treatment. Prior to your appointments make sure that you drink plenty of water. Avoid eating for at least two hours before your appointment, but fasting is not required. Please don't come for your cleanse feeling hungry. You may take a warm bath the night before to soften toxins or you can take a herbal tea laxative.
What is involved?
Your visit will involve taking a case history followed by an explanation of the procedure. The colonic itself will take 30-45 minutes. Please allow one and a half to two hours for your appointment so that you do not feel rushed. During the treatment, a small speculum will be inserted into your rectum and water will gently be introduced into the colon via the rectum. The therapist will use special massage techniques to stimulate the release of stored matter. The water will cause the muscles which line the colon to contract and expand rhythmically. This movement forces the faecal matter, gas and mucus through an outlet tube, which is evacuated out to a waste pipe. Herbal and probiotic implants may be used in your treatment session to assist this process. Your practitioner will advise you of any beneficial dietary changes to further enhance your treatment. In addition your therapist will also give advice on any supplements that you may require to support your health. These will be available from the therapist. Your modesty will be preserved at all times.
Post-Colonic Advice
It should be noted that most clients need a series of colonic treatments, not just one. You may only expel gas the first few treatments, it usually takes a few treatments before you start to dislodge old encrusted faecal matter. You should remember that it usually takes years for the colon to become clogged up with its own waste products. Therefore, you shouldn't be impatient when undertaking a therapeutic course of colonic irrigations.
After each session we advise you to eat easy to digest, nourishing foods such as vegetables, soups and broths. You may feel a little tired or nauseous due to movement of the old toxins and debris from the colon. If you experience discomfort, a warm hot water bottle placed on the abdomen will ease it and a warm peppermint tea will also help to soothe the discomfort. Any symptoms will last no more than 24 hours.
